Elvira arranged an art showing for Hamoa, just as she had promised. It was held in the ground level of Elvira’s lovely home, because the home of an established and illustrious patron was the best way to introduce a fledgling artist to the city and the world.

Looking around, Elvira was quite pleased with what she had done. More specifically, she was happy with what her servants had done, but since she had instructed them, it still counted. There were art easels around the vast foyer, plus places for art to be hung on the walls. A small table had wine and glasses for any thirsty visitors. A harpsichordist was playing music in a far corner of the room.

As for Hamoa, she had been instructed to find the best fabrics in colors that looked good on her, and to have a gown made for herself from them, the costs for which Elvira covered as well. When Hamoa stepped into the room, it would be the first time Elvira would see the gown on her.

“What do you think, my dear?” Elvira asked, gesturing widely to the room around them. “I hope this all suits you quite well.” There was a bit of time to change things, but the first guests would arrive soon.
