"Valindra get your ass back here! Clean this mess up!.”

Val had no intention of getting her ass back there, she slammed the door in her brother’s face as she took off running toward town. Her jaw hurt from where he smacked her but she tried to ignore it as she stormed away, glancing behind her to see if he was following...he wasn’t. Good he could keep his arse there and clean up his own mess, throwing a tantrum like a child because of what she cooked. Food was scarce...and he knew it, she couldn’t get her hands on enough money to buy them proper meat, she was doing the best she could.

What did he do with his time besides take her earnings and slap her around. Nothing...he bought whores and he drank himself stupid...stupidity seemed to be something he was born with though. She’d never say that to his face, just like she didn’t plan to tell him what her plans were for the evening, what she had planned since she had finished his stupid dinner.

All he ever did was complain, throw a tantrum and demand for more, nothing she did was good enough, the amount she stole wasn’t good enough. Two reasons she put up with it, one she was terrified of him, and knew the damage he could do her. He always made good on his threats and he was rather good at tracking her down when he needed to, wanted to.

He might be a drunk who used his sister as his cash cow but he still had friends, some were rather scary and they all offered to purchase her one time or another. The only reason her brother held his hand is because he knew if he sold her he’d lose his cash cow, the minute someone forced themselves on her she’d fight. Fight him, fight them, she would drive her twin daggers into the man’s neck and then her brother’s.

However as she reached town the woman pushed her brother and his threats from her mind. She pulled her hood up, hiding her eyes from prying eyes, especially the poor sod that she decided to steal from. For the next hour she made herself look busy, keeping her eyes open for what looked like an easy target.

Valindra frowned as she eyed the people coming and going from the taven, a place she’d never step in but she didn’t need to. She just needed to keep her eyes peeled for the right target, someone who was deep in his cup, tipping this way and that. An easy mark that she could steal from, snatch their purse off their side while they worried about getting back to their dwelling. If the person happened to be a pirate then it was better for her, she tried to take back from them whenever she got the chance. Stupid filthy pirates who made their living off hurting other people. They had so much to take too, money, fine wine, good meat...she not only stole off their person but their ships sometimes, when she was feeling extra daring.

Had her brother known he would of beat her black and blue, not because he cared if the pirates hurt her. However if they got their hands on her then he lost his cash cow, his income because god knew he did nothing. All he ever did was complain, throw a tantrum and demand for more, nothing she did was good enough, the amount she stole wasn’t good enough. Two reasons she put up with it, one she was terrified of him, and knew the damage he could do her. Val stayed near the tavern, watching for really drunk men who wouldn’t give her too much trouble. One of the whores (what she calls them) snickered as she saw Val and rolled her eyes, though the two often exchanged words, today Val just ignored her as she sauntered into the building. Her biggest virtue was patients...least when it counted, like when she was about to steal. She just needed to wait for the right person...an hour later and here they came.

The reason she thought they’d be an easy mark is because he seemed distracted, His large purse at his side also was very welcoming to her. She had no idea who the person was, or that they may not be as hopeless as they seemed. The whore who hung on the outside of the tavern went to say something but the one named Mary shook her head and smirked just watching the two as Valindra stalked after them.

She kept her head down, hood covering her as she slid past the people, waiting for the right time to snatch the pouch. It wasn’t until he seemed to get distracted by someone they neared that she reached out with steady hands. The woman kept her eyes on her victim in case they turned without warning, seemed very distracted so she went to cut the cord. She usually had no trouble when snatching purses, her hands were steady, she was as quiet as a mouse. The sooner she got this purse the sooner she could return to her brother and hopefully he’d be happy. Then maybe she could get some sleep, she was so tired of late. All she wanted to do was close her eyes and sleep but her brother demanded more, so here she was...hopefully her tiredness didn’t work against her.
