Alexander might have been annoyed by many things with the Admiral, the fact the man had never heard of perhaps the most powerful frigate ever built...albeit by France, and yet it was in his sphere of influence. Maybe the man had been sunning himself naked on the beaches in the Caribbean for too long to keep up with the latest of knowledge on this side of the world. Though it was the way the man seemed to hold himself, simplistically requesting, or was it demanding that he be invited for not only lunch, but no doubt to scour with eyes and legs the powerful frigate laying in the bay, not flying currently any flag, but looking menacing none the less. There was a darkness which played behind those bloodshot eyes as Alex watched the man retreat, or perhaps be dragged off by his bouncing, headache inducing little girl. Oh, Alexander liked kids, just not when he was hungover and trying his best not to divulge the entirety of his evening dinner all over his own boots. Pity the Admiral h ad moved on, he could have shown his respect by spackling the man’s shoes instead. Unguarded eyes turned toward Jack at his side, a brow half arching at the way the man was already smirking, knowing easily the emotions not quite hidden by the Captain.
“Did that…man just invite himself upon my ship, to my pantry, my liquor cabinet, and my god damned crew? Fuck it, I’m going to kill him.”
“No Alexander, No…I couldn’t handle that much damn paperwork. Besides, even you couldn’t be so cruel to make that cute little child an orphan.”
“Not my fault if she has that much of a pompous ass as a father.”
“Alex, of course he’s a pompous ass…he’s an admiral, you act like you’ve never met one before.”
The muttered curse from the man’s lips brought a grin to Jack’s, the message had gotten across, albeit maybe not the best in the long run, but keep the powerful men of the Royal Navy from killing one another, and it was a good day at that. A commodore introduced took the attention of the Intelligence officer, just long enough to allow the privateer to slip away to the side of the dock, and vomit a lovely arc of spoiled liquor and shellfish into the sea, his way no doubt of giving back to the very sea from which they had come.
Jack couldn’t help but raise a hand to his face, covering it, less out of shame, and much more out of doing his best not to break out into loud laughter which would have just spoiled the moment even more. Though anyone smart enough would have seen the slight shaking as the man laughed behind that hand. Certainly a moment spoiler, but Jack seemed to take it in stride, handkerchief taken from within his jacket was offered to the returning Captain, who had a wry grin upon his own lips.
“Bloody hell that tasted much better last night. Better out, than in, no?”

#12Emaline had never been fond of children, thinking them noisy, dirty, and irritating. But this little girl was absolutely charming, for reasons she didn't completely understand, and she found herself smiling down at her as she broke free of her father and came their way. Goodness, just look at that little face. She didn't really look up as the intimidating other man appeared, but she heard the name spoken. Anne. Well then! Perhaps she would just have to make friends with this little sprite.
"Bonjour, Mademoiselle Anne. You may call me Miss Emaline, and it would be my great pleasure to show you to these rooms Monsieur le Commodore speaks of, oui?"
She extended her hand to the child, and assuming she took it, Emaline would gladly walk off with the little girl's hand in hers, and her other tucked into the curve of her husband's arm. She had no bloody clue where they were going, but she was sure someone would point her in the right direction. The important part was that she was too far away to see when the blonde bearded sailor vomited over the side of the dock -- had she been witness to such, she was sure she would've soon been doing the same. Even just hearing it from little more than a dozen feet away made her stomach roil alarmingly, and she had to bite the inside of her cheek to clear her head of the fuzziness that threatened. She had no idea why she'd been feeling so ill lately, but she was more than ready for it to stop. She resolved to see a doctor as soon as she could.

#13York isn't sure he is actually supposed to leave the Admiral and the men. However, Emaline didn't release his arm and Anne seemed quite keen to get moving. So it was that the midshipman joined his wife and the darling little girl in their quest to locate her rooms. Thankfully he knew where the Admirals rooms were since he'd helped get them prepared and by extension where the daughter would be staying. Thus he guides them towards the quarters with a slight grin.
Unlike his wife, York was quite fond of children and he found the little girl quite adorable. Now that he was married he found his mind drifting to the topic of what it would be like if Emaline and he had a child. Surely that would not happen for some time but when it did he would do his best to as good of a father as his had been. Definitely, a better father than Emaline's had been.
"So are you looking forward to your time in Venice little miss?" York asks the girl as they stroll looking for all the world like a little family at that moment.
