Re: Born Yesterday (OPEN)

Fernand seemed surprised by the news of him becoming a father, and his wife becoming a mother, but he said he’d be surprised because he had thought she could not have children. Apparently her first husband had abused her. Charles nodded, it made sense in so many ways, also because he’d seen that she was going to need Fernand to be there for her. Charles had no children, but he knew such a life could be tough if you weren’t a noble who had people to take care of their children. When you had to handle it yourself… it could be tough.

The other man thanked Charles for the vision and then wondered if his wife would live or die. His voice broke and there was a pause. This obviously meant a lot to him. Then he shared that his mother had died while giving birth to him.

Charles clapped Fernand’s hand in a kind way, “Remember I told you she was going to need you to be there for her? As far as I can see, she will need you. Meaning she won’t pass away, if everything goes as it should and you are careful.” Charles explained, “I don’t see any problems other than what is ordinary, with her. Life can of course change quickly, but so far, if you stay on this path, and she stays on her path…” Charles nodded, “Don’t worry too much. And if you do, let me know and I shall see if I can see anything that may ease your mind.” He let go of Fernand’s hand then and leaned back in his own chair. He always felt a little tired after such sessions.

Fernand was extremely grateful for what Charles had revealed him. He was going to be a father, and both his child and his wife were going to survive. These were amazing news he would keep for himself, not willing to give Margareta hopes before they materialize. Some day, when SHE would tell him that she was pregnant, he'd tell her about Charles' visions, but not a moment before.

He saw the man looked rather tired, and he asked:

"Would you like a coffee with some pastries as desert? It fights exhaustion too."

Some day he'd be a father. What more could he dream of? Having a full, round family...

Charles would be happy to know that Fernand was grateful, and he seemed to be, but for now, Charles suddenly felt tired. He hadn’t done anything physical to make himself tired, but his mind had been working harder than he knew. He didn’t know that most people barely used any of the power they had in their mind… and that he used a bit more of that than most. But it was exhausting and not just for his mind, but also for his body.

Fernand had seemed so worried though, that something would happen to his wife and that she’d not live, but he tried to ensure Fernand that she would. At least he hadn’t seen her die. But then he had little left in him. Fernand then wondered if Charles wanted coffee and dessert now.

“I know it does.” Charles nodded, “Coffee… makes my body act strangely though. Makes it work when it shouldn’t. Perhaps a small dessert. A cake.” Charles said and closed his eyes for a moment. He almost felt dizzy. Now why was that?

Fernand was still daydreaming at the possibility to have a child, as it had never been considered since Margareta knew she was barren. But well, weren't enough stories in the Bible about women who were barren, some up to an older age, and then God graced them with a child? Saint John the Baptist and Virgin Mary herself were such miracle children, but he vaguely remembered that there had been others too. Why not them as well, if they prayed to San Antonio who could make such miracles? He smiled, looking at Charles, who was clearly exhausted. Maybe this was the taxing effect of the visions.

As Charles mentioned a small cake, Fernand smiled and replied promptly:

"We surely have them. You'd need to wait only as long as I bring it from the kitchen."

Soon he returned with a slice of sand cake and a glass of fresh lemonade.

"Good appetite and thank you very much for everything!"

The day was shiny and bright as the news he received were. Hopefully Charles' day would be as sweet as the cake and as welcoming as he had been.
